October 30:
More power! A new upgraded operations computer installed to handle growing needs of digital control system. JMRI (Java Model Railroad Interface) and LocoNet utilized to control all aspects of railway. All throttles and control panels are digital except for two turntables. Throttle control is by NCE remote hand units or Smartphones using WiThrottle. Control panels are accessed using WebServer on tablets. Main dispatch panel uses HP Touchscreen monitor.

 

October 6:
Back in the swing of things after the summer. Work continues on all aspects of the railway. More new scenery, some track changes, bridge installation and more. Railway operations begin on first Wednesdays after 3-1/2 years. New gallery section to come soon on website.bridge

May 28 & 29:
Our shows were a great success. Everything ran well and our visitors found it interesting to see the layout under construction, a major DIY project! We are planning to have a late fall or Christmas show. If you are not on our mailing list, click on the link below left to be added for future announcements. may28

May 4:
Practice operating sessions for our show begin. New digital control system, controlled by iPhones and iPads performs exceptionally well. Everything "on track" for our first show! Shown below are an iPad being used to operate track switches on the mainline

April 30:
The big cleanup for our shows begins!

The centre dividing wall between the north and south rooms has masonite backdrop installed.

April 1:
Lay it and move it. Track is relocated to provide broader radius curves at Parker's Falls.

Wood trestle for Chesher's Curve under construction.

March 27:
Ballasting complete on upper mainline.

 

March 25:
Scenery nears completion at Parker's Falls as track testing continues.

 

March 19:
Detection circuit coils added for mainline.

 

February 21:
Scenery between Parkers Falls and Carlisle completed.

 

February 20:
The first run over the entire railway using
the new digital dispatching and control system occured!

 

February 17:
Installation of all electronics for turnout control now installed, part of the new digital control system.
